    Roman Blind Recess Size

    Recess Size

    If you want to fit your blind within the window recess as shown above, please provide us with Recess Size measurements.

    To do this you will need to measure inside the window recess from wall to wall for the width and from ceiling to window sill for the drop.

    You should take the measurements three times to make sure you get the most accurate sizes - at the top, at the middle and at the bottom for the width and at the top, the middle and the right for the drop.

    Please give us the smallest of the three measurements for both the width and the drop.

    Make sure you do not make any reductions from these sizes yourself. We'll make your blinds slightly smaller on the width than the sizes you give us to make sure that it fits into the space with enough room for it to be installed easily, while still covering as much of the window as possible.

    If you want to fit your blind outside of the window recess we recommend adding at least 10cm onto the width and 10cm onto the drop. This will give you a 5cm overlap at each edge to help minimise light leakage.

    Measuring Instructions

    Always take your measurements with a steel tape measure to ensure you get accurate readings. Fabric tape measures can stretch and provide false sizes.

    Don't forget to check your measurements two or three times to make sure your blinds will be made to the correct size!

    I'm very pleased with my purchase from order blinds and I would definitely order from them again. I needed replacement blinds and I'm so happy I stumbled on their website! They have a free sample service, where they send you a few samples of the blinds to choose, they have a very helpful guide about how to measure your blinds and an excellent delivery system.     The blinds are great. The ordering process was easy. They move well although as you’d expect the wider blinds are a little stiffer to operate. We’ve fitted one to a patio sliding door and the frame sits just over the lock latch. We’ve also installed one on an opening window. Thankfully it fits between the window vent and the window handle although it is very snug.
