    How to Measure

How to measure for roller blinds

    Selecting Recess/Fabric/Blind Size

Please read the guide below and let us know which type of measurement you are providing:

    Recess Size

    Recess Size

If you want to fit your blind within the window recess as shown above, please provide us with Recess Size measurements.

To do this you will need to measure inside the window recess from wall to wall for the width and from ceiling to window sill for the drop.

You should take the measurements three times to make sure you get the most accurate sizes - at the top, at the middle and at the bottom for the width and at the top, the middle and the right for the drop.

The three sizes to give us are the smallest of the three measurements for both the width and the drop.

Make sure you do not make any reductions from these sizes yourself. We'll make your blinds slightly smaller on the width than the sizes you give us to make sure that it fits into the space with enough room for it to be installed easily and so the brackets don't scrape the walls, while still covering as much of the window as possible. The adjustment size will differ depending on the type of blind you choose and whether you are adding a cassette to cover the roll - our team will be happy to confirm the reduction amount for you if you advise which blind you are ordering.

Remember that the width of the fabric will always be slightly less than the total width of the blind to allow for the size of the mechanism and brackets - the difference is usually approximately 3.5cm.

    Fabric Size or Blind Size

If you want to fit your blind outside of the window recess we recommend overlapping the window by at least 10cm on the width and 10cm on the drop.

You can then specify whether you want us to use these measurements as the Fabric Size or the Blind Size.

    Fabric Size or Blind Size

    Fabric Size

If you choose Fabric Size we will use your measurements as the size of the fabric part of the blind only. This means that the size of the brackets/mechanism/cassette will be in addition to the sizes you provide us - this is usually 3.5cm but our team will be happy to confirm the amount for you before ordering.

    Blind Size

If you choose Blind Size we will use your measurements as the size of the total blind including the brackets and mechanism (and cassette if ordered). This means that the fabric part of the blind will be slightly smaller than the sizes you provide. The amount of difference varies depending on the type of blind ordered - it is usually 3.5cm but our team will be happy to confirm the amount for you before ordering.

    Power Source

Integrated Motor with Built In Battery

This blind is supplied with integrated motors that are fit within the blind tubes so are invisible from the outside. With no separate battery packs to install you get a neat and clean look at your window.

Based on average use the built in batteries will last around 6-12 months before they need to be recharged. Simply plug the mains charger into the port at the end of the motor to charge the blind - you don't even need to take them down from the window.

We supply one charger free with every order, but additional chargers can be ordered here if you require more.

    Remote Control Options

    Five Channel Standard Remote

    Five Channel Standard Remote

This simple multi channel remote allows you to control multiple blinds either individually or as a group. Most commonly for a double roller you would set the first two channels to operate the blinds individually and the third, fourth and fifth to operate them together to stop at varying heights, but you can set up any variation you like. A wall mount is included with this remote to help prevent it being lost or whisked away by one of the small and playful members of the family!

    Five Channel Luxury Remote

    Five Channel Luxury Remote

This white multi channel remote features stylish contrasting dark grey accents and is perfect for rooms with multiple blinds that you want to operate from a single handset. Most commonly you would use the first four channels for operating blinds individually and the fifth channel to operate them together, but you can set up any variation you like. A discreet wall mount is included with this remote.

    Motor Positions

Before ordering you should consider which side of the blind you would the motor to be installed.

From time to time you will need to recharge the battery packs that are integrated into your blind's motors. To do this you will need to plug in a mains powered charger, so it's good to consider where your blind will be in relation to the power sockets in the room and which side of the blind will be easier to access.

Helpful Hint - We find that it's a little easier to access the charger port when the motor is on the right hand side of the blind, but it can also be installed on the left if required.

You could also choose to have one motor on the right and another on the left, which can be useful if you wish to purchase an additional charger and re-charge both blinds at the same time. If you choose this option, the blind at the back (usually sheer or sunscreen) will have the motor fitted on the left and the blind at the front (usually blackout) will have the motor fitted on the right.

A wonderful innovation that is both beautiful and highly practical, this electric double bracket roller blind positions a sheer blind behind a blackout blind so they can be operated separately; allowing you amazing control over the amount of visibility and light entering your room.

Our double roller blinds have proven very popular for living rooms and open plan living spaces as you get the best of both worlds - reduced glare and more privacy during the daylight hours from the sunscreen blind and complete privacy and light blockage from the blackout blind whenever its needed, usually in the evenings.

You can select from either a traditional sewn bottom finish on the two blinds, or aluminium bottom bars in a choice of white, silver or black.

To add to its appeal a cassette is added to the top of the blind that is fitted with a piece of matching blackout fabric and bracket covers to hide the motors and rolls from view. You can choose to have the cassette and bracket covers in either white, anthracite grey or black to suit your decor scheme. This really is an exceptionally neat looking window dressing solution.

We have created combinations using our most popular colours, however if you require different fabrics to those listed please contact us and we will advise if your selection is possible and supply a quotation.

    Please Note

    • This blind is suitable for top fixing or face fixing only, it cannot be side fixed.
    • The sheer blind will be standard rolled and positioned to the back nearest the window, while the blackout fabric will be reverse rolled and positioned at the front.

    Sizing FAQ:

    • To order a recess size blind enter the wall to wall measurement at the smallest point of your window for for both width and drop. Our factory will make a small 1cm reduction to ensure your blind fits into this space.
    • An exact blind size is the finished blind size including brackets.
    • A fabric size blind is the size of the fabric part of the blind only - the finished blind will be 3.5cm wider than this to include for the brackets.
    • We will add enough fabric to the roll so that when the blind is fully extended the roller tube is still covered.

    Power:

    • Supplied with integrated Somfy motors which are fitted inside the roller tubes.

    In the box:

    • Two made to measure electric roller blinds manufactured to your specification complete with integrated motors.
    • Your choice of power option and remote control(s) or home automation system.
    • Brackets suitable for top or face fixing.
    • Instructions for fitting and fine tuning the programming of your blind start to finish.
